Alkhidmat Marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Alkhidmat Marked International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Acknowledging Equal Opportunities for Disabled Persons in Social and National Life.


As of now, Alkhimdat has hit the milestone of distributing wheelchairs to over 37,000 physically disabled persons across Pakistan that is a testament to the Alkhidmat’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those facing physical challenges.
Alkhidmat organized ceremonies across the country, with a special ceremony held at Multan Road in Lahore in this regard. Cash prizes were awarded to a large number of position holder students, and 50 physically disabled individuals received wheelchairs, while an additional 50 visually impaired persons were provided with white canes. 
The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Secretary General Jamaat e Islami Pakistan(JIP) Ameer ul Azeem, Vice President Alkhidmat Zikrullah Mujahid, President Alkhidmat Central Punjab Ikram ul Haq Subhani and Alkhidmat officials. The event was also attended by representatives of organizations working for the welfare of disabled persons, including Hamza Foundation, Rising Sun Education & Welfare Society, Blind Daily Wager Union, Right of Special Person, Roshni Foundation, and Friends of Paraplegics.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been commemorated by Alkhidmat Community Services Program for several years, guided by the vision of 'leave no one behind.' The observance of the day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being, while also acknowledging equal opportunities in social and national life for disabled persons.
Speaking at the event, Secretary General JIP Ameer ul Azeem said that today's day calls for a commitment to make all our institutions and centers friendly to special people.  Every special person of the society is our responsibility and the rights of these people are our duty, he urged. All the organizations working for the welfare of the disabled should come together on one platform and work not only for the implementation of the existing legislation for the special persons but also for the welfare of the disabled, he concluded. 
Vice President Alkhidmat Zikrullah Mujahid mentioned on the occasion that according to UNDP statistics, the number of disabled people in Pakistan is over 14 million. To reduce the hardship of such individuals, Alkhimdatt provides thousands of wheelchairs every year under the Alkhidmat Community Services Program and has provided 7,000 wheelchairs across the country this year alone, while more than 37,000 wheelchairs have been distributed since 2012. President Alkhidmat Central Punjab Ikram ul Haq Subhani, said that the purpose of celebrating this day is to express solidarity with people with disabilities in all spheres of society.
The program concluded with an awareness walk in solidarity with individuals with special needs. On this occasion, the special persons expressed their gratitude to the Alkhidmat Foundation for its continuous support.
